Niagra region band Road Waves visits Radium

The adventurous nature of Road Waves makes it a challenging task to define the energy-packed four-piece that touches on the roots of funk, blues, rock, and jazz. Their shows are built on a philosophy of playing from their hearts and an open mind, making for an exciting exploration with a huge sound.
Since the conception of the band (2014), Road Waves has been moving full steam ahead with the release of two albums, and two major cross-country tours. With ‘The Lighthouse’ released in 2015 and ‘Red Sun Rising’ in 2018 the band shows no signs of slowing as they build their history in Canada with plans of touching down in the USA soon.

Founded by Ji Sharp in 2014, the group is still young, their history short and sweet, but they have already made a mark in their hometown of Niagara Falls, ON, and are gearing up for their 2019 cross-country tour which will see them supporting their second album release, ‘Red Sun Rising’ (Available on all streaming platforms).

Alongside Ji Sharp’s emotional vocals and soaring guitar, Don Letourneau operates melodic layers of keyboards over a fierce rhythm section consisting of the bold drum beats of Matt Maxwell and Yo Izumita’s massive bass grooves. The synergy with their audience is apparent from the start, and each time a song is played, it grows and develops as a better version of itself – very much like the living being that is music. Road Waves is a band to look out for on the tour circuit and music festival scene.
