Columbia Valley Rockies Female Hockey’s Give Back Sunday

Columbia Valley Rockies Female Hockey is a local ice hockey club that could use a bit of fundraising help!

From the team:

The Columbia Valley loves their hockey but not everyone knows that we have a U18 Female team. The team is 21 girls that reside from Golden to Cranbrook with the majority being based right here in the Invermere area. This has given girls the opportunity to continually play hockey without having to leave home.

The Midget Female team had the opportunity to go to Wickfest which was created by 6 time Olympian, Hayley Wickenheiser. This year, the tournament celebrated Ms Wickenheiser being inducted in to the Hockey Hall of Fame and celebrating 10 years of Wickfest success! Wickfest attracts thousands of female athletes from all over the world. As well as world wide media, Olympic athletes and professional hockey players. We are proud as we came home with a silver medal from the amazing event.

Our regular season has us traveling all over Alberta as our closest league is the Rocky Mountain Female Hockey League. We travel away for half our season to places most of us have never heard of.

On this Sunday, 15% of all food sales from the Horsethief Pub are being donated to the Columbia Valley Rockies Female Hockey.

Give Back Sunday

The Horsethief Pub is proud to partner with local charities, not for profits, or local fundraising efforts for many Sundays through the year.  Groups holding a Give Back Sunday at the Horsethief receive 15% of our food sales as a donation to their organization.

When selecting groups to partner with, we work local.  We are looking to support groups here in the Columbia Valley as our way of giving back to the community that supports us through the year.  We get far more requests for participation than we are able to accommodate, so we narrow it down based on the success of past participation, on immediate need, and on a group’s ties in the Columbia Valley.

Participating groups are encouraged to have fun with their assigned week!  In the past groups have organized silent auctions, bands or other entertainers, or had a volunteer on site to collect donations or sign up members.  We have found that the more an organization puts in to promoting their Sunday, the larger the donation we are able to make.

If you represent a group that would like to partner with the Horsethief Pub for a Give Back Sunday, please send an email to Erin at  givebacksundays@gmail.com.
